What is Social Justice?
Social Justice is ensuring that individuals fulfill their societal roles in the advancement of equity, access, participation, and human rights.
The Purpose of the Social Justice Ministry
The purpose of the Social Justice Ministry is to provide awareness, generate support, and encourage participation in activities that address social injustices by:
- Equipping the Community
- Enlightening Members
- Encouraging Congregants
- Educating the Community
Goals
- Conduct On-site Voter Registration drives for Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Waller counties.
- Alert the congregation of key voting information, changes, and related dates including voter registration deadlines and election dates.
- Attend and monitor local school board meetings to identify emerging education issues and concerns.
- Spotlight social injustice issues by educating and informing the congregation.
- Identify ways to address social injustices including partnering with other ministries and outside groups (i.e. petitions, peaceful protests, communicating with local, state, or national lawmakers, etc).
- Provide education resources, opportunities, and tools to address injustices.
