A Deeper Trust in the Promises of Jesus

A Deeper Trust in the Promises of Jesus
March 15 - 21
"And surely, I am with you always to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20b)
Devotional: When we are going through painful or tragic situations, we sometimes feel like we are in them alone or that it’s the worst thing that could happen to us. But when we hear someone else’s story, we don’t consider our situation as being so bad. As Jesus prepared the disciples for the road ahead when he would no longer be with them, they were challenged to trust that the Holy Spirit would go with them. How we react in difficult situations reflects our trust in the promises Jesus made not only to the disciple but to us today “…surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.” Friends, our call to faith is to have complete trust and confidence in the promises God made, that He would be with us in good times and in difficult times, even when it feels like He is not there. Although we might not feel His presence, we must trust that God is always with us, walking along beside us, and sometimes even carrying us.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, when I am overwhelmed by painful situations and it seems like You are not there, help me to press on with a deeper trust in the promises that You made to always be with me… even when I can’t feel Your presence. In Your precious and powerful name… Amen!
Reflection Question: Have there been times when you were going through a painful situation that you couldn’t sense Jesus’ presence with you? How did you press deeper into trusting in His promises?
