Following The Master's Lead
November 2 - 8
"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12)
Devotional: One of the questions that often rears its head when there is a dispute, an impasse, is simply this: do we make a decision based on principle or people? For many of us it seems obvious but sometimes we are called to take a call against the evils and injustices of the world for the long run. Years ago, there was a campaign that very popular everywhere that coined this phrase on bumper stickers, bracelets, books, etc., that asked the question “what would Jesus do?” Jesus always made people His priority in demonstrating His love, compassion, and forgiveness while serving others and that was His principle in living as He ministered here on planet earth. For the believer in Him, people and principle go hand in hand because of the love for all in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Prayer: Lord, when I think of your goodness and your compassion, my mind wonders how awesome and majestic You are; for truly you are King Kings and Lord of Lords! I thank you for your great love and sacrifice for me and now Almighty God, allow me to be a good steward in following your example when matters and issues of life come my way. Allow me to make decisions based on your love and care in order to make a difference in this environment, through your Son Jesus Christ I pray, Amen!
Reflection Question: Are there some instances in your life where you value principle over people?
