Producing a Crop

Producing a Crop
October 12 - 18
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Luke 10:2)
Devotional: One of my fond memories as a child was the opportunity to help my mother once she had returned from the farmer’s market. We shelled peas, snapped butter beans, green beans, and it was an all-day affair. While some of the older siblings had other activities already planned and could not participate all day in the process, my younger brother and I were stuck to shell and snapped until our fingers were sore because our mother had brought quite a harvest of vegetables. I truly understand what Jesus meant when He reminds us that “the Harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few Beloved, it emphasizes the abundance of opportunities and needs in the world, especially when it comes to helping and giving, while highlighting the shortage of individuals willing to engage in the work. Remember, God has call us to action to make this world a better place.
Prayer: God of Grace, God of Glory, we acknowledge your presence in our lives and to know that You are a God who provides and One who produces good fruit in each of us. Now Father, help us to be good stewards of what you have entrusted to us to make a difference in the lives of your people, in the marvelous name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen!
Reflection Question: What prevents you from helping to those in need?
