Run Your Race To Win

Run Your Race to Win
February 8 - 14
"Do you not know that in a race the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9-24-25
Devotional: The competition of sports activities gives children an opportunity to develop discipline at an early age. The art of track and field, basketball, and football requires strict discipline and training. Athletes commit to rigorous training that builds stamina by stretching and strengthening their core and legs muscles, eating a proper diet, and getting adequate rest. The goal is to win the prize of being filled with the Holy Spirit and equipped with the Word of God. For Christians, winning the prize is less about one’s physical ability and more about developing spiritual maturity. The believer’s goal should be to wear a crown righteousness that will neither rust nor corrode but will last for eternity.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we live in a world with competing voices are vying for our time and attention; they are drawing us farther away from spending quality time in your presence. We have become “too busy”… being busy. Lord, help us put aside the “things” that compete against our ability to develop the discipline needed to spend time meditating, praying and studying your word. God, enable us to be consistent so that we may win the prize of achieving spiritual maturity. In the name of Jesus Christ… Amen!
Reflection Question: What things will you put aside this week so that you can develop the spiritual maturity needed to win the prize of being in Christ Jesus?
