Sing to The Lord!

Sing to The Lord!
March 29 - April 4
“I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.” (Psalm 120:1)
Devotional: Listening to soft music and singing songs of praise helps to calm and comfort us when we're feeling anxious. While journeying through barbaric lands on their way to the temple for the annual festivals in Jerusalem, the Israelites sang songs as they trusted that the Lord would be with them. Psalm 120 is the first in a series of fourteen Psalms called “Pilgrim Psalms or Songs of Ascent.” These Psalms describes their “steps” along the journey. They reminded the people of God that even though they were risking their lives as they traveled; singing praises gave them comfort in knowing that His presence was with them. When we feel alone or in despair, we too can be reminded that God’s presence is with us. That, He knows our anxious thoughts and will answer when we call.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for answering when we call. You are our ever-present help! Therefore, we can be assured that when we are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, we can take comfort in singing songs that bring us into your presence.
Reflection Question: In what ways do you seek comfort when you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed?
