The Revelation In Crushing
February 20 – 26
Scripture: “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
Devotional: Have you ever been through something that crushed your spirit, and it shattered your heart into a million pieces? It’s never easy going through the crushing process because you are being squeezed, and pulled in many different directions. God designed all of us differently, and we each handle pain in a different way. We need to remember that the Lord is our Shepherd and he does care for us. The Lord said in Matthew 10:6 “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and he has the power to bind up their wounds. The Lord said in Isaiah 57:15 “For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.” The God we serve is the Potter, and we are his clay. When we say yes Lord we accept your will for our lives then, and then only can God mold us, and transform us into the image that he wants us to be. Many times in life our attention is too focused on all problems and we can’t see past any of the rain. The Lord told us Matthew 5:45 “That you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” The crushing is never comfortable, and yes it does hurt but the Lord promised us he would give us beauty for our ashes. In the crushing, we gain new revelation about God because we walk with him, and he reveals the depths of his spirit unto us. The Lord said in Colossians 2:9-10 “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.”
Prayer: Sovereign Lord your radiance and, glory upholds the entire universe by your Word and Power. Lord, we humble ourselves before the throne of grace to ask in the name of Jesus for you to grant us comfort in times of trouble. Lord, we pray for every crushed spirit who is sitting in a room of darkness. Lord, we ask in the name of Jesus for you to cast off all forms of darkness, and allow your armor of light to shine over their life. Lord, you said in 2 Peter 1:19 “And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” In Jesus’ name, we pray amen.
