Watch How You Treat Others

Watch How You Treat Others
March 22 - 28
"Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!" (Hebrews 13:1-2)
Devotional: Before my children would leave home for school each day, like my parents did with me, I would say something like… “Be good!”— “Watch how you talk to people!” or – “Make sure you say, “Thank you!” This was my way of helping them realize that we don’t always know who we might have contact with throughout the day. I wanted them to realize that God is ever-present with us. The Hebrew writer says… don’t forget to show hospitality [be friendly or kind] to others. Genuine love is revealed through our actions. Loving others is one of the greatest commandments given by God… Love your neighbor as yourself. Angels are spiritual beings who embody humans and who act as messengers of God. This passage reminds us that there are times when our interactions with others might not seem godly but we should never forget to show loving-kindness towards everyone we meet.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to extend loving-kindness to everyone. Let my actions always reflect the kind of love that is acceptable and pleasing to You. In the name of Jesus Christ… Amen!
Reflection Question: Can you remember a time you missed the opportunity to show hospitality towards someone you didn’t know? Whisper a prayer to God for forgiveness, then ask Him for another opportunity this week.
